How to Proof Bread Dough
Proofing or proving bread or any dough, can be quite a challenge for the novice baker. Bread dough needs the proper environment for it to rise to perfection. Different recipes call for different variations and time frames and usually shows up as just “allow the dough to rise in a warm place free of draft”.
Traditional artisan bread making calls for the bread dough to be allowed to rise and rest at the very least twice before baking. This process of proofing can take between 12 to 48 hours!
Needless to say, the proofing process is a source of concern for most home bakers, specially those just starting to learn the craft of baking. It need not be so though.
